Phish Stories

Phish stories…Exactly that…

In today’s world of electronic communications — the art of “phishing” or rather sending unsolicited emails is pervasive. Not only are there companies trying to get you to constantly purchase items — mostly ranging from watches to drugs to hair tonics, but there seems to be a constant barrage of emails from banks and other institutions asking for verification of information as well as the deluge of offers to settle estates or be a beneficiary of a large estate.

Please note that recently there have been many emails purportedly from the IRS about tax refunds and other tax matters. The IRS NEVER sends emails about tax matters and should you receive any emails asking for information from anyone you do not know or cannot verify, please do not divulge any information or even respond. Emails seemingly from the IRS should be immediately reported to phishing@irs.gov but not responded to directly.
