Public Hearing on Needs of LGBT Seniors- SF City Hall

January 26, 2012/San Francisco, CA

Please join Openhouse and friends on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 1pm, City Hall Room 263 for a public hearing on the needs of LGBT seniors. All members of the community are invited to attend this important opportunity to let your voice be heard.

Supervisors Scott Wiener, David Campos and Christina Olague have asked key city staff to comment on the services available to LGBT seniors and their unmet needs. Experts and advocates, including Openhouse, have also been invited to provide testimony.

Your voice is critical. The Supervisors are especially interested in hearing directly from LGBT seniors to provide public comment.  Some topics to consider:

  • What has been your experience as an LGBT senior in San Francisco?
  • What challenges are you facing as an LGBT senior?
  • How has Openhouse or other senior service providers helped or been beneficial to you?
  • What more could the city or community do to address the challenges you are facing?
  • Did you move away from San Francisco or are you considering moving out of the city or to a different neighborhood because of challenges you face as a senior?  If so, why?

Please let OpenhHouse know if you are able to attend the hearing or if you’d like more information.  Call Matthew Cimino at (415) 296-8995 x4 or email him.
